The Richelieu Rock diving liveaboard gives you 11 dives at world class dive sites: Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Boonsung wreck and Thailand's best dive site Richelieu Rock.

These northern dive sites of the Andaman Sea, especially Richelieu Rock, are very good places to meet the amazing manta rays or whale sharks. It’s also heaven for the lovers of the tiny critters like sea horses, shrimps and nudibranchs. . .  there are so many to discover that you barely know where to look first.

3 days and 3 nights you will be cruising between Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock, enjoying the best South Thailand liveaboard diving and the tropical landscape of the beautiful Islands of Koh Tachai and Koh Bon.

There are dive sides for every level what makes this Thailand liveaboard trip suitable for novice divers . . . but the diving there is so exciting that advanced divers will not get bored either. Bring your underwater camera and make sure to have ample batteries (or a charger) and big memory cards with you.

You are diving in  small groups on this trip: 1 professional dive guide takes maximum 5 divers with him or her. Your certification level and diving experience determine which dive group you will join.

Now, what to expect from this special Similan Island liveaboard tour?

You will be picked up in the afternoon if you stay in Phuket or in the early evening should you stay in Khao Lak. The check-in lounge is located in the Khao Lak dive center. The transfer to the pier happens around 8 pm, so by 8:30 pm there will be a general boat briefing, followed by the allocation of the cabins, the equipment setup and dinner before the live aboard starts cruising towards Koh Bon.

On day 1 you awake early in a stunning surrounding and the first two dives will be at Koh Bon West Ridge. While you enjoy your lunch, the Thailand Liveaboard will take you north to the island Koh Tachai, where you will have your afternoon and the sunset dive.

There is plenty of space on this Similan Island liveaboard boat to relax and enjoy the time between the dives: On top of the liveaboard you’ll find the large sundeck, where you can get tanned in the sun but there are also shaded areas, if you prefer to stay cool. You also can hang out in the open dining area or in the salon with HD-TV to watch some videos made during the dives.

Your early morning dive on day 2 happens again around Koh Tachai and for the remaining 3 dives M/V Manta Queen 2 will take you further north to the legendary Richelieu Rock.

Day 3 brings 2 more dives at Koh Bon before the boat headed south for the very last dive of this marvelous Northern Andaman Sea diving trip at the Boonsung wreck, which is located quite close to the pier, so you will arrive at the dive center in Khao Lak in the afternoon.

M/V Manta Queen 2 is 24 meters long and 5 meters wide, manned with 6 boat crew members and 5 international dive staff and and accommodates 20 guests in comfortable air conditioned cabins. 

All meals onboard are freshly cooked and served in buffet style. You have the choice between tasty Thai cuisine and a variety of Western dishes during your cruise, vegetarian and vegan meals are also available and the use of Monosodium Glutamate is banned on all Manta Queen boats. Please let the staff during your check-in know if you are allergic to nuts or other food ingredients!

Between the dives fruits and snacks are served and you can take tea, coffee and drinking water at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

The Similan islands, Koh Bon , Koh Tachai and Richelieu rock are parts of Marine National parks.

The parks are open from the 15th of October till the 15th of May. From the 16th of May till the 14th of October the National parks are closed. Visiting the islands or dive sites is not allowed.

From the of May to the beginning of October the  Southwest Monsoon comes to Thailand from the Indian Ocean and impacts the Andaman Coast. Then the sea waters of the Andaman Coast are disturbed, weather conditions can change very quickly and high waves can make travelling at sea quit a challenge. 

For the 2 days – 1 nights liveaboard trip there is a pick up service for the Khao Lak area.

For the 3 days – 3 nights, 4 days – 4 days and 5 days – 5 nights liveaboard trip there is a pick up service for the Khao Lak area and the major tourist towns on Phuket, including Phuket  airport.

From Bangkok you can take flight to Phuket airport  and from there a taxi to Khao Lak. It’s also possible to take a night bus from the Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal ( Sai Tai Mai Bus station)  to Khao Lak which takes about an 11 hours .

From Koh Samui, Koh Phang an and Kao Tao you can take a ferry to Surthani and from there the bus Khao Lak.

From Phuket  you can take a bus to Khao Lak. The bus starts at Phuket town bus station and it takes about  2 -2 1/2 hours to Khao Lak.

The maximum depth permitted on all trips is 30 meters, 99 feet for Open Water Divers with the Deep Adventure Dive certification, Advanced Divers, Rescue Divers, Divemasters and Instructors.

Open Water Divers without any additional Deep training will not be permitted to dive deeper than 18 meters, 59 feet.

The maximum depth for Junior open water divers 10 or 11 years old is 12 meters. The maximum depth for junior open water divers 12 years and older is 18 meters.

The maximum depth for Junior advanced open water divers between the age of 12 and 14 years old is 21 meters.

 

Yes, all meals are included in the price as well as coffee, tea and water. Th meals are served in buffet style. Vegetarian meals are possible . During the day fruits are served. All other drinks ordered have to be paid separately.
